It’s true. I was playing cards in the student lounge and I stood up to hug a friend I hadn’t seen in weeks. Those low-rise hip “hugger” (more like hip slipper) New York & Company jeans slid right off of me. I never wore them again. I also never ate in the student lounge after that. But I suspect had I been able to do it over I would’ve hiked my jeans up and said, “What are you looking at, pervs?” and gone on about my business. It was a good learning experience though. Don’t let one embarrassment hold you back from eating in the student lounge. Also, be oh so grateful for the revival of the high-waisted pant.
And that brings us here. To this website. Here you can find information on the projects I am currently working on as well as updates on my progress as I pursue my dream of breaking into creative writing as more than just a hobby.
I am Sawyer West (please, call me Sawyer), a writer and director specializing in web series and comedy sketches. I have been in shows at the Philly Improv Theatre (PHIT), and I am currently working on my own comedy web series dealing with twenty-somethings and mental illness, Disordered, which you can read about here. A Philadelphia native, I have lived in Boston and in Spain. I like Philadelphia the best. I have worked in the non-profit public relations sector for seven years with a focus on arts programs for children and family homelessness. In my spare time, when I’m not writing, I spend a sizable chunk of time fantasizing about writing: my own TV show, a book, basically anything with my name on it.
Likes: Good prose, old sitcoms, shoes, nail polish, big hair, nothing else
Dislikes: People who don’t watch TV (What are you, out riding a bike or something? Well then I really don’t like you)
